Drive smooth, drive safe

Have you noticed your drives aren’t as smooth lately? It may be a problem with your suspension. At NQ Diesel, we provide fault-finding services, maintenance, and repairs for your suspension, helping you stay safe on the roads. We service clients across the Townsville area.

A functional suspension system is essential for a smooth drive. Your car’s suspension is what keeps little bumps, uneven areas and cracks in the road from ruining your driving experience. The suspension system is also necessary for keeping your tyres on the road, giving you maximum control over your vehicle.

Suspension

Your suspension system works because of two main components: dampers and springs. The three spring types, coil springs, torsion bars and leaf springs, can be found in different kinds of vehicles. Most modern cars use coil springs.

Dampers, also known as shock absorbers, protect your vehicle’s chassis from the force of hitting a bump or running over a dip in the road. These important components resemble an oil-filled piston that separates the wheels from the chassis.

When your vehicle runs over a bump or dip in the road, the piston pushes back into its casing, slowed by the oil. This process stops your vehicle’s springs from bouncing continually and pushes your wheels back against the road’s surface, making for a smoother drive.

Experienced and Qualified Mechanics

Our experienced and qualified mechanics will quickly identify and rectify any problems with your suspension, using only the highest quality vehicle parts. If the problem lies elsewhere in the vehicle, we’ll fix that, too.

To avoid drawn-out suspension problems, look out for the following warning signs:

  • Bouncing or jolting when driving
  • Prematurely worn-out tyres
  • Difficulty with braking or turning

Most drivers notice suspension problems when they feel the car may tip when turning a corner. A car maintains its centre of gravity when turning corners with an anti-sway bar. Anti-sway bar faults can lead to further effects, like uneven tyre wear.

Bouncing, Jolting and Lurching

When braking is another common sign, which points to problems with your shock absorbers. Shock absorber issues are especially dangerous, as the jolting forward can increase your car’s stopping distance by 20%.

If you notice any of the above issues, bring your car into NQ Diesel as soon as you can. We will discuss the problems you’ve been experiencing, check over the vehicle to identify specific faults, and repair your suspension quickly and efficiently.
